As part of our wellness program we provide support with making sure your body gets all of the nutrients it needs. Amino Acids are the building blocks of how the body functions and creates the wellness it needs to support you in daily life. Here is a list of our Amino Acid Frequency Support Protocol and some insight as to what these vital nutrients do and how they help you feel your best.
Amino Acids: The Essential Nine (EAAs)
The body doesn’t produce these aminos on its own & needs them to operate.
Histidine
Essential for growth & repair of tissues, maintenance of myelin sheathes (nerve protection). Produces Histamine for immune response and carnosine and supports the sleep-wake cycles.
Isoleucine
Key for muscle metabolism, immune function, hemoglobin production & energy regulation. The bridge of the ‘Branch Chain (BCAA) trio.
Leucine
The most critical amino for stimulating muscle protein synthesis. The anabolic trigger for muscle repair and growth. The Leader of the BCCA trio.
Lysine
Vital for protein synthesis, calcium absorption, collagen formation for skin, tendons & bones and the production of hormones/enzymes.
Methionine
Essential for metabolism, detoxification, providing sulfur to the body for healthy tissues and helps your body absorb selenium and zinc.
Phenylalanine
A precursor to ‘feel-good’ neurotransmitters; dopamine, epinephrine and norepinephrine, which are critical for mood and focus.
Threonine
Important for structural proteins of collagen & elastin in the skin and connective tissue and helps with fat metabolism in the liver.
Tryptophan
A precursor to serotonin for mood regulation and melatonin for sleep regulation
Valine
Assists in muscle regeneration, promotes muscle growth, tissue repair and energy production during physical exercise. This is the third BCAA.
Amino Acids: Non-Essential & Conditional
The body can make these this but during stress, high physical demand, systemic illness or lack of proper nutrition more are needed to support optimised wellness and recovery.
Alanine
Essential for the body to produce energy for muscles during fasting or exercise via the glucose-alanine cycle.
Asparagine
Vital for brain developments, the nervous system, metabolic processes and the synthesis of many other proteins.
Aspartic Acid
Critical in hormone production and energy production and metabolism (involved in the krebs cycle).
L-Glutamine
The most abundant amino acid in the body fuelling gut health, immune function and muscle cells.
Arginine
Precursor & support of nitric oxide production which helps blood vessels relax (vasodilation) and promotes blood flow, wound healing & immune response.
Cysteine & Cystine
Powerhouse antioxidants. Cysteine is a building block for glutathione, the body’s master antioxidant and also provides sulfur for structural integrity. Cystine is two cysteine molecules linked together, crucial for skin and hair health.
Tyrosine
Helps produce thyroid hormones and catecholamines which are key brain chemicals like adrenaline and dopamine supporting cognitive function during stress
Glycine
Primary component of collagen and a neurotransmitter that calms the central nervous system.
Ornithine
Involved in the urea cycle, helping the body eliminate waste and detoxify ammonia.
Proline & Hydroxyproline
Essential for collagen formation and structure and joint & cartilage health.
Serine
Important for brain health and the formation of the ‘myelin sheath’ that protects nerves.
Amino Derivatives & Functional Compounds
Citrulline
Converted in to arginine in the kidneys, highly effective at boosting nitric oxide levels and improving blood flow.
Taurine
Acts as an antioxidant, supports heart health, hydration, nerve signalling, nerve growth and regulates minerals like magnesium inside cells.
Creatine
Stores high energy phosphates as phosphocreatine supporting muscles produce energy during heavy lifting, sprinting and high physical activity as well as supporting brain health.
Acetylcarnitine
Transports fatty acids in the cells mitrochondria to be burned for energy for brain function and nerve repair.
Wellness Program Benefit Buckets
🏋️ Muscle Growth & Physical Recovery
These are the heavy hitters for athletes or those focused on body composition.
- The BCAAs (Leucine, Isoleucine, Valine): The “big three” for preventing muscle breakdown.
- Creatine: For explosive power and muscle fullness.
- Beta-Alanine: Helps buffer acid in muscles to reduce “the burn” during exercise.
- Glutamine: Essential for recovery after intense physical stress.
🧠 Cognitive Function & Mental Clarity
For those focused on “brain fog,” mood regulation, or focus.
- Tyrosine & Phenylalanine: The precursors to dopamine (focus and drive).
- Tryptophan: The precursor to serotonin (happiness) and melatonin (sleep).
- Choline: Essential for memory and the “mind-muscle” connection.
- Acetyl-L-Carnitine: Known for “brain energy” and protecting neurons.
- Serine: Supports the structural integrity of brain cells.
🌿 Gut Health & Immunity
For participants focused on digestion or staying resilient against illness.
- L-Glutamine: The “gold standard” for repairing the gut lining (leaky gut).
- Histidine: Regulates the immune response.
- Threonine: Helps produce the protective mucus lining in the digestive tract.
- Cysteine: Helps the body create Glutathione (the master antioxidant).
✨ Beauty, Joints & Longevity
For those focused on “anti-aging,” skin elasticity, and joint comfort.
- Glycine, Proline & Hydroxyproline: The “Collagen Trio.” These are the primary building blocks for skin, hair, nails, and cartilage.
- Lysine: Vital for collagen cross-linking and skin repair.
- Methionine: Contains sulfur, which is essential for healthy hair and nail growth.
💓 Heart Health & Detoxification
For cardiovascular support and internal “cleansing.”
- Arginine & Citrulline: Both boost nitric oxide, which improves blood flow and lowers blood pressure.
- Taurine: Supports heart rhythm and electrolyte balance.
- Ornithine & Aspartic Acid: Key players in the Urea Cycle, helping the liver detoxify ammonia.
